DETAILED ABOUT

Hello! My name is Doug Lattuca. I am a sports broadcaster from Dix Hills, New York.

In July 2023, I accepted my first job as the Broadcaster and Director of Communications for the 2023 Commissioner's Cup Champion Danbury Hat Tricks hockey team in the Federal Prospects Hockey League. In my second season with the team (April 2025), I was honored with the Hat Tricks Award for my contributions to the organization both on the mic and behind the scenes, as well as the FPHL Broadcaster of the Year Award, the league's Award of Excellence for Broadcasting.

I graduated summa cum laude from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in December 2022.

During my four years at Syracuse, I worked with the Syracuse Men's Club Hockey Team (ACHA), the Syracuse Crunch (AHL), WAER-FM, WJPZ-FM, and ACC Network Extra. I was also a broadcaster for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League during the summer of 2022 and served as a voice for the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League in the summer of 2021.

While calling hockey is my passion, I have also announced multiple sports on television and radio, anchored news and sports talk shows, interviewed coaches and players, and voiced commercial spots and videos.

For most kids, the athletes are the stars. For me, it has always been about the broadcasters. While I loved sports, I tended to focus more on how the announcers called the plays rather than on the plays themselves. I would rewind and listen to every detail of every call, admiring the announcers’ passion, sophisticated sports language, and knowledge. And yes, I am still my friends’ favorite video game announcer. In simple terms, I am a sports broadcasting enthusiast, and I love being one.

As a diehard New York Rangers fan growing up, I was introduced to broadcasting by Sam Rosen, the Rangers’ play-by-play commentator. His liveliness and excitement drew me in and made me realize that sports broadcasting was what I wanted to pursue as a young professional. In 2014, I was fortunate enough to meet Kenny Albert, radio broadcaster for the Rangers. Most memorably, during that game, the Rangers were down 3-0 going into the final period, but after speaking to Albert between periods, the Rangers scored five goals in the third to win the game.

Leveraging my passion for digital journalism, I developed the broadcasting program for my high school, Hills West Media, which featured a sports podcast called Colts’ Corner. The podcast went on to win an award from the Long Island Press Association. From there, I became the voice of the Colts through West TV, which broadcasted Hills West athletics live.

Using my experiences from high school and the foundation I built early at Syracuse, I established myself as a valuable contributor to multiple school-related and external organizations and internships related to broadcasting and leadership during my time at SU.
